International Human Rights Day
The Polytechnic of Tomar marked International Human Rights Day on 11 December with an activity focused on issues such as racial discrimination and reconciling personal, professional and family life.
The workshop 'Raising awareness, preventing and combating racial discrimination in schools' was held at the Doutor José Bayolo Pacheco de Amorim auditorium on the Tomar campus, opening its doors at 10.30 a.m. The event was organised by Sara Caetano from the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum. This initiative was targeted at students.
The afternoon began at 2pm with a speech by IPT Vice-President Natércia Santos at the opening session. This was followed by the seminar "The importance of reconciling professional, family and personal life", consisting of three speeches and aimed at all employees of the Polytechnic of Tomar and other institutions in the Médio Tejo region. The President of the Commission for Equality in Work and Employment (CITE) kicked off the cycle of presentations on "Good practices in reconciling work, family and private life". Representing the University of Aveiro, Daniel Costa spoke about "Reconciliation at the University of Aveiro ".
The "Reconciliation Management System at IPT" was the last topic to be analysed, with Catarina Morgado from IPT's Reconciliation Group speaking.
Participation in this event was open to the entire academic community and the region.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is marked by the theme "Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All". The initiative was part of the Polytechnic of Tomar's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2022-2024, which includes a series of actions aimed at making the institution more inclusive and equitable.
